Bio-LNG for trucks: expanding sustainable fueling options in Germany

The transport industry is changing, and more companies are looking for ways to reduce their environmental impact. At TFC, we want to make that transition easier by offering different fueling and charging solutions. As part of our collaboration with Alternoil, we are adding 26 new LNG-only locations across Germany to the TFC network.

You can explore the new Bio-LNG locations alongside all other TFC fueling locations on our interactive network map.

What is Bio-LNG?

LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) is natural gas that has been cooled until it becomes a liquid. This makes it suitable for use as a fuel in heavy-duty vehicles. Bio-LNG is made from renewable biological sources instead of fossil natural gas. The important thing to know is that Bio-LNG and regular LNG can be used interchangeably. The main difference is where the fuel comes from. Bio-LNG can therefore offer a more sustainable alternative to conventional LNG. For long-distance transport, LNG-powered trucks can offer a long driving range and quick refuelling. This makes LNG and Bio-LNG an option for companies running suitable heavy-duty vehicles.

Bio-LNG is one of several options

There is no single solution for the transition towards more sustainable transport. The right option depends on your fleet, routes and business needs.

  • HVO100 can provide a renewable alternative to conventional diesel for compatible vehicles, allowing companies to reduce their reliance on fossil diesel without immediately replacing their existing fleet.
  • BiofuelSwap offers another approach for companies looking to reduce the carbon impact of their transport without changing their physical fueling process. Through a Book & Claim system, the associated emissions reduction is allocated to the customer.
  • Electric charging is becoming increasingly relevant as more electric trucks enter the market. Reliable charging infrastructure will play an important role in supporting fleets as they transition to electric transport.

Ready for what comes next

Even if diesel remains the right choice for your fleet today, the transition towards more sustainable transport is already underway. At TFC, our aim is to make that transition easier by continuously expanding both our network and the solutions available to our customers.

Our collaboration with Alternoil is another step in that direction, providing more access to Bio-LNG today while continuing to build a network ready for the changing needs of transport tomorrow.
